Micro Medical Devices is a technology company, founded more than two decades ago, on the belief that the modern doctor inherently has a new set of unique challenges and solving them means developing creative, portable solutions.

In 2005, we released our first product, a handheld A-Scan device aimed at helping physicians measure the depth and thickness of the eye’s internal structures using ultrasound technology. In the years since, we have taken pride in developing an expanded set of precise biometry equipment that can be easily transported and used in and out of the conventional office setting.

After providing this portable, scalable, and practical solution, doctors shared an emerging challenge — visual field testing equipment. For years, conventional VF technology had been known for slow operation, bulky equipment, and a negative patient experience. At the time, VR technology was only starting to emerge, but we accepted the challenge to develop portable, wearable, and comfortable visual field testing that is accessible for more patients without compromising on reliability. With this, we began engineering a new era of visual field testing for doctors and patients alike.

THE VF2000 FOCUS

We started drastically rethinking the visual field process and in 2018, we were the first to market with a virtual reality (VR) headset that changed the way practices could offer comprehensive visual field testing to patients: The VF2000 Focus visual field analyzer.

Replacing the bulky, expensive equipment of the past, the VF2000 Focus could be used anywhere in the office and can be used in a way that’s more comfortable for a larger number of patients. This device is reinventing the area of visual field analysis because it offers doctors a way to expand their diagnostic effectiveness without the same space or cost considerations as conventional equipment. Because it could be worn comfortably by virtually any patient during testing, the VF2000 Focus received the ADA Compliant designation as a model of accessibility.

The Focus is now known as our Legacy Model, immortalizing our achievement of having the original innovation that shaped what practitioners can expect from visual field equipment and VR technology in their practices. In the years since, we’ve continued to upgrade our product lines with new arrays of available tests, upgraded internal software, faster testing capabilities, and better optics, resulting in our current available models: the VF2000 G2 and the VF2000 NEO.

The Micro Medical Mission

What drives Micro Medical Devices is a dedication to producing high-quality handheld versions of critical tools that doctors use globally to provide reliable outcomes and a positive patient experience, whether they’re working in a traditional practice setting or in the field.

What sets us apart is the support we provide to our customers. Unlike big companies that make it difficult to access training resources and ongoing support after the purchase, we go out of our way to make sure doctors feel like we’re standing beside them through the life of our products and beyond.
