A Virtual Reality Visual Field Headset Analyzer for the Modern Practice

The VF2000 VR visual field test device is the essential tool for the modern practitioner, boosting efficiency and patient flow without compromising accuracy.

Change the Way You Think About Virtual Reality Visual Field Testing Devices

Introducing The VF2000, a virtual reality visual field test device from Micro Medical Devices. Harnessing the power of VR, the VF2000 brings cutting-edge technology into your practice without compromising the standard of accuracy and precision.

The VF2000 changed the game for doctors tired of using dedicated space in their practices for visual field analysis when it became the first tool of its kind on the market in 2018. Equipped with a full range of testing protocols, the VF2000 is the clear choice for practices looking to increase testing capability in their practice.

VF2000 VR Headset vs HFA Perimeter

Conventional visual field testing machines like the HFA have long been considered the gold standard, but modern trends have passed them by. They’re bulky, difficult to clean, and slow most practices down to a halt as patients wait to use limited darkroom space.

The VF2000 represents a new era in simple, comfortable vision testing. When we started engineering the VF2000 Focus visual field analyzer, our goal was to develop a technology that overcomes obstacles involving space, efficiency, and patient flow — without sacrificing diagnostic integrity.

A few ways virtual reality (VR) visual field headsets meet or surpass expectations with past equipment are…

  • A VR visual field can help detect and classify moderate to severe defects more comfortably for the patient than the devices like HFA
  • VF2000 VR visual fields sit at a much more accessible price point, starting at just $8,995 for the base model
  • Virtual reality has been clinically validated as a means of testing a patient’s visual field, and our devices have been found to be reliable and their results repeatable

Most headsets on the market today have an FOV of 80-110 degrees and PICO devices have a 98-degree FOV. These are the devices used by MMD and many of the other VFVR providers that later entered the market.

In fact, in prominent peer-reviewed studies, Micro Medical Devices’ visual field analyzer was validated next to reports from the HFA. With statistically significant accuracy, data from tests run on both were found to be “in complete agreement.”

A Better Test for Your Practice — and Your Patients

Visual field analysis has been the gold standard in the detection and diagnosis of glaucoma, AMD, brain abnormalities, and other related conditions for a long time.

This technology is used to test the full vertical and horizontal range of peripheral vision, detecting and locating spots of diminished vision or blindness (scotomas) in a patient’s vision.

Before the VF2000 became the first VR-based visual field device on the market, however, methods of visual field testing were suboptimal for practices and their patients. Practitioners had to choose between getting incomplete information from a tabletop screening device and sacrificing an entire room in their practice for an HFA. Patients couldn’t reliably hold their head still inside the machine during the duration of testing due to physical limitations, and either testing needed to be repeated or results simply couldn’t be trusted.

At MMD, we believe patients should look forward to the opportunity to check their eye health and quality of vision. They should be motivated to understand whether they have blind spots, where they are, and what their shape is, because this offers critical information about emerging eye diseases, brain disorders, and other eye health markers. The VF2000 doesn’t just promise better data for you — it promises a more enjoyable experience for your patients.
